Hawk Mountain Lookout

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Revision as of 17:18, 22 November 2017 by Bobcat (Talk | contribs)

A restored cabin at the Hawk Mountain Lookout site (cfm)
The tower was destroyed in the 1950s (USFS)

Description

The 60-foot lookout tower was taken down in 1967, but you can still see some of the cement base and metal supports near the cabin. The 1936 cabin is unlocked and available to users on a first come/first serve basis. There are a few supplies, a wood stove and a wooden sleeping bench inside. The open area here, in addition to affording a great view towards Mount Jefferson and the Three Sisters, puts on a display of colorful blooms in late spring/early summer.
