Hike Description
NOTE: Most of the Deschutes Canyon south of the state park day use area was severely burned in the July 2018 Substation Fire. Almost all the trees and shrubs along the length of this hike were killed.
The Ferry Springs Hike goes steeply up to great views of the Deschutes River entering the Columbia River.
Ferry Springs itself is fairly un-memorable, but the entire hike has great views.
You could camp at Deschutes State Park, and then do this as a day hike.
The first 0.9 miles goes along the Deschutes River Hike. There is a sign indicating where the trail goes up to Ferry Springs.
The trail to the springs is a fairly narrow foot trail. Wide open Eastern Oregon scenery - rocks, a bit of Juniper and grasses, occasional birds and maybe deer or sheep.
It's 0.8 miles up to the springs, then 0.9 miles down to where it joins the main Deschutes River Trail.
1.9 miles back to the trailhead.
