Description
Cache Meadows is a stretch of three marshy expanses with some open water along the Grouse Point Trail. The shortest way to the meadows is via the Cache Meadows Trail #702 or the Cripple Creek Trail #703, both of which skirt forest lakes, from the 140 spur of FR 4635. The meadows boast a healthy population of mosquitoes and a variety of wetland wildflowers from late spring through the summer.
The Cache Meadows Shelter, at the Grouse Point-Cripple Creek Trail Junction, was burned down in 2002 by vandals. This is still a good campsite, though. A spring with pure water (the beginning of Cripple Creek) can be found off a side trail just above the third (east) meadow.
