Description

Averill Lake is a clear pleasant lake surrounded by many campsites. At 12 acres, it is the largest lake in the area and it also has the most campsites. Olallie Butte, Potato Butte and Double Peaks are the prominences seen from the lake.

According to McArthur & McArthur's Oregon Geographic Names, the lake is named after Ed Averill, a "State Fish Protector for many years in the 1920s."
