Joann Lake Apr 5, 2018

Post by dfs1109 » April 5th, 2018, 6:18 pm

Snowshoed up Waldo Lake Rd for about two miles before heading left at the signed juncture towards Fuji Mt. We made it up the ridge but by the time we got to Joann Lake we were pretty tired from the wet snow pulling us down with every step. Had lunch at the lake and returned back to the snowpark near hwy 58 for a 8.8 mile round trip snowshoe!

I believe this is Mount Yoran which was behinds.

Thanks for the report, I was just x-country skiing up there near Waldo a couple weeks ago. I agree about the forest quality, great mountain hemlocks, noble firs, even a few sugar pines. I think the peak in the first photo is Mt. Yoran.
