Newberry Road Trailhead is Not Accessible from Hwy 30
Just want to report that you can get to the Newberry Road Trailhead for Wildwood Trail from the top, i.e. Skyline Drive - not from the bottom, i.e. from Hwy 30 (the road washed out in early 2017.) Completed Wildwood Trail today, took a few months doing it in bits and loops leading Meetup hikes there. Great place to see pileated woodpecker signs (large rectangular holes in dead trees), mushrooms, and the Doug fir/western hemlock/alder/bigleaf maple forest.

Congrats! Thanks for the heads-up, too. It's hard to remember that this non-wild trailhead is a detour away.
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

Thanks for the reminder about the detour. I've put alternative directions in the Field Guide.

I checked this out when biking up Newberry Road last summer ... it's pretty dramatic, with half the road simply fallen down the hillside. Still passable by bike or on foot, though.
