In case anyone is wondering… Silver Star already has lots of snow. I could see that from Portland, but had to go see if it was bootable. The first 30 minutes up the Grouse Mountain Trail on 11/7 was on packed crusty snow with lots of boot tracks. After that, we spent two hours breaking trail, punching through almost to knee level. So there is a nice boot track of post holes to follow now.
Oops… too late, it’s snowing again. Unless we get a warming trend, it's skis or snowshoes from now on.
We stopped short of the summit because the wind yesterday was brutal on top.

Awesome! How was the road in?

Re: Silver Star condition update
There was lightly packed snow on the road for the last mile approaching the trailhead, but any vehicle with any tires would have been fine.

Yep, that's what I figured. I was thinking about it a couple days ago, but decided it was probably too deep already. Nice pics, especially the first one.
I feel like I've done everything there is to do up there, but it's a great spot, and so close to Portland. I really must get back some day.
