Pamelia Lake 10/27-28

Post by Jim57 » October 31st, 2017, 4:58 am

Jim57 and brother in law Petr needing a couple of days away from the city. Petr has been there several times. For me it was my first overnighter there. Short hike just over 2 miles. We were going to climb grizzly peak. But once we arrived decided not. The weather was wonderful. We visited 13 of the 14 campsites at the lake. Built a nice fire at campsite #3. A ranger showed up in the afternoon and checked our permit. Nice trails, campsite, sunrise, sunset, campfire, stars, drive, everything. Just a great time to relax and enjoy the colors of fall.

Looks lovely! I think the fee is up to $10/day? At least it was when I made a reservation earlier this year. I couldn't go though because my reservation was during the fire closure. Thankfully they refunded the fee. Any signs of the fire?

The reservation was $5 per day. The ranger explained that wasn't an overnight fee. It was for each day in the area.
On our way home, we drove up the Whitewater Road to the where the road is closed. First time I have ever seen such a large fire break. It was at least 60 feet wide and went for as far as we could see.
