I'm was thinking of trying the Goat Lake Loop trail later this month (Aug 16-19) with my brother and father. I'm curious if anyone knows the snowpack up there right now and if it will be clear by then.
Any other words of advice/caution would be appreciated. I'm relatively new to the area (came from Tacoma area), so this would be my first hike down here. My familiarity is primarily with Mt. Rainier and Olympics areas.
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Goat Lake Loop?
I was there August 1 last year and the snow was just melting off the lake. The snow is melting off later this year, so you should probably be good. I bet you'll see some snow.
I camped at Goat Lake one night, but it was so windy it blew my pillow onto the lake and I could never get it because it was snow covered but not enough to think about walking on it. Next time I'll camp before or after the lake..
This is a great hike, have fun.
