overnight trip recommendation

Post by Delfiin » July 12th, 2008, 3:28 pm

Help! My brother is in town this week and would like to try backpacking. My husband and I are experienced backpackers but newer to this area so we have only done dayhikes. I have been trying to find a good overnight that would involve some nice scenery, a good campsite and a great hike. Preferably in the 15 mile range total as my brother is a photographer so our pace will reflect numerous photo stops. Also, we have already done Eagle Creek/Tunnel Falls as a dayhike, so that is out. What good hikes are snow free? My head is spinning from all the trail searching.
Thanks for any input!!!!

Ridge Camp - http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org ... _Loop_Hike

Somewhere up Herman Creek - http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org ... Creek_Hike (you wouldn't have to go all the way up to Wahtum Lake)

Benson Plateau - http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org ... _Loop_Hike

You could get up to Benson Plateau from Eagle Creek Trailhead and Ruckel Creek Trail also.

Thanks Jerry. Herman Creek looks pretty interesting.
