Hello,
Just wanted to see if anyone has hiked the Owl Point section of the Vista Ridge trail recently. I tried to drive up by going by way of Zig Zag a couple of weeks ago and the road (#18) had a deep divet in it that my car couldn't cross. I was thinking of trying the other route through Hood River next time but was wondering if anyone might have a different suggestion?
Thanks.

Which route did you try? Was the "divot" that stopped you the ditch I photographed here?

Or were you on the longer route shown berry-colored on my map?

You want to turn right at Lolo Pass instead of going straight. It would help if the Forest Service put some signs up!
Right now, though, you don't want to go that way because of a road closure. More info here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=26974

Yeah divot was putting it lightly haha. But I would say the ditch spanned the road, much like the one you posted but deeper, and it was about a mile or two past the gate by the PCT trail spot by/on NF 18.Webfoot wrote: ↑August 7th, 2018, 6:42 pmWhich route did you try? Oh thanks for the tip! Yeah the roads could've been better marked but I also found a recent trip report from Owl Point posted today (8/8) that seemed to give a good alternative to NF 18.justpeachy wrote: ↑August 8th, 2018, 12:27 pmYou want to turn right at Lolo Pass instead of going straight. I think it's the same ditch. Did you scroll down to my June 19th, 2018 photos? In 2017 that was actually a pretty smooth road and I recommended it over the southwestern route, but that ditch got a lot worse in the following year.
