I hiked out of JRO yesterday (July 19th) on the Boundary Trail going towards Devils Elbow. I got to the West side of DE and hiked out about 50 yards. It didnt look bad at all. I was by myself so I didnt venture out any further. Had I been with someone I would have hiked out more. I took the bypass, turned right and went out to the end. Beautiful day and I had the end all to myself for about an hour before I hiked back to JRO. While I was out at that end point, I hiked the West side of DE going back toward JRO. Again I went about 50 yards or so and it looked alright. I did see boot tracks on both ends.

I hiked it in late June, and it wasn't even remotely sketchy (by my standards, anyway). I don't remember exactly what the signs on either end of the west arm said, but I remember thinking it was a fairly tepid warning. No threats of penalties or anything like that, just "hey, the trail goes this way now."

The attached photo shows the worst spot.

What day was that taken? I'd have sworn it looked worse than that on the 24th, but now I doubt myself.
