FR-25 Snow Free?

Post by Onrhodes » May 8th, 2018, 2:50 pm

I know that FR-25 is gated after Lewis River Rd/FR-90....however I was wondering if anyone knows if it is snow free? Incredible 80 mile bike ride from Pine Creek VC to Windy Ridge....only if the road is clear though.....curious if anyone's been up that way and might know some of the east side conditions.

Thanks,
-Pete

I'm almost certain that area around Elk Pass has a lot of snow still.. Remember seeing snow on trails around there in July in past years. But I think you may bike for a while before seeing any snow.

Since FR 23 a little ways to the east is not gated, and Babyshoe Pass is about the same altitude as Elk Pass, you could use it as a decent indicator. Being farther east it probably gets less snow, and typically melts out by late May, and folks are constantly driving their high clearance trucks up there and testing them against the remaining snow.
