Post by dunnman1981 » March 30th, 2018, 7:37 am

Does anyone have any info or know where to get any info on the newly created Rogue Wolf Loop trail?

This is the ONLY thing I was able to find online: https://www.facebook.com/R6RRSNF/posts/1442332649168404

...which led me to the Siskiyou Mountain Club. Their annual report has something about the Rogue Wolf Loop on page 15: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMwAn ... ZOMUk/view

I've added it to OpenStreetMap, for what that's worth: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/8164812

We're planning to try this loop in early summer, depending on how quick the snow melts. The Siskiyou Mountain Club did heroic work getting it open after years of neglect but Solace Meadow got burned again by the 2017 Blanket Fire and the SMC was only able to clear 1.5 miles of the 2.6 miles of the #1089 going south from Solace to the PCT. We won't know till we get there what effect these recent fires have had on the trails or water sources in the northern part of the loop. But, thanks to a mild winter (no ice or high winds) and the SMC, we'll be betting that this summer is probably as good a time as any for this loop. Going clockwise saves you a big climb to Alta Lake.

Just to follow-up on this. I did the Rogue Wolf Loop last week and it was a lot of fun. I put some photos on this site (here) and you'll find more of those plus details on my blog
