Longer winter hikes near Bend?

Post by lisina » January 9th, 2018, 10:01 pm

Hi friends,
I'm thinking about heading east this weekend and am looking for hikes in the 10+miles range that might be accessible this time of year (knowing it's still pretty dry out there). I was looking at the Crooked River Ranch area (Otter Bench), but what I'm finding isn't quite as long as I was hoping to find. Would love some suggestions!

Thanks

You can get quite a few miles in at the Oregon Badlands Wilderness just east of Bend along Highway 20.

Lookout mountain in the Ochocos from the bottom is 15+ miles. Badlands has a lot of trails but it does get boring after a while. I just did Otter Bench yesterday. Paulina Peak is good, not enough snow for snowmobilers to ruin it for you.

I live in Bend. PM me if you want more info or are looking to find a partner for Saturday.
Will break trail for beer.
