We are looking to take a lower elevation hike soon and I'm wondering if anyone has some thoughts (recommendations) on the following two hikes. We want to backpack with one overnight stay. The first hike says not back-packable and the second one says "maybe".
Has anyone hiked these who can add perspective to this? Is there any reason these would not be good choices right now?

It's raining
Otherwise no.
Except we have another month or two at higher elevations, like on Mt Hood.
Top Spur to McNeil shelter - keep camera at the ready for bears. Maybe wait a few days for any snow to melt.

Re: Wilson River Hike Questions
Thanks, Jerry. Have you backpacked either of the two trails I listed?

Re: Wilson River Hike Questions
I have backpacked Elk Creek, but the distance isn't very long. Nice in the winter when everything else is blocked by snow but this is clear, like sometimes in January or February.
I hiked into the three way junction between King's Mt and Elk Mt. There are flat enough areas to camp. Close to trail but not too many people there - mostly people hike to either of the mountains. Drinking water on the Elk Creek trail close by. I camped there and then day hiked to King's Mt, Elk Mt, and explored on the logging road that goes north from the Elk Creek trail.
I have a bad feeling about car break-ins there. Maybe the best is to park at the Elk Mt trailhead. There's probably a locked gate now at the highway. I tried to park as far off the highway and sort of hiding in the brush so maybe a car breaker inner wouldn't notice?

Re: Wilson River Hike Questions
Thanks, Jerry. We've made a change to Lewis River instead.
