Sisters Wilderness stays?

Post by OR_brew » August 2nd, 2017, 8:07 pm

Hi, I am planning to hike into the Linton Medow - Eileen Lake-Reese lake area in The Sisters Wilderness this weekend. Has anyone been out that way recently?Mosquitos horrific? Snow?

Thanks!

Darn. There's fires now 8/14/17 and the PCT section is closed now. We were headed to do this loop next week.. not sure we can? https://www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail ... ires-2017/

NW InciWeb shows a bleak outlook for backpacking in the Cascades this year. A lot of fires started burning this month from Jefferson to the California border.

Just in case you do get a chance to get there in the next couple weeks (wildfire permitting), although Reese Lake was beautiful, it was the one area we really needed our deet. However, that is a great place to set up camp and don't let that detour you. There were no mosquitos on the east side of the mountains. We were there just last week.

there's plenty to do on the east side

you can hike over, between middle and south sisters and hike over to Reese Lake. Just don't go 100 feet further to the PCT

normally, Reese Lake is pretty crowded, there'll be nobody there now
