Eagle Creek Clackamas Access?

Wondering if anyone's tried getting into the Clackamas (or Salmon-Huckleberry) Eagle Creek lately?

Last spring, logging blocked access from the west along Harvey Road, apparently. Maybe they're done? How to find out?

How about alternative trailheads? Would the Douglas TH be ridiculous?

Not sure if the Harvey road trailhead is open again, but douglas is open. It only adds a couple miles each way I think.

Yeah, I was eyeballing Douglas TH, but guessing it might be just a bit over 3 miles each way. Still, not terrible. (Worse, perhaps, is the 1200' climb on the way out! ;) )

Yes, the road is open. I did this a few weeks ago. The loggers didn't regrade the road and there are some huge dips. We got through in a subaru but it might be harder after some days of rain. The trail is in good shape.

Do you think after two weeks of hot, dry weather I might be able to make it in a small hatchback if I go really slow? I'm thinking of this trail for a quiet 4th of July weekend jaunt and the weather looks dry between now and then.

You didn't ask me but I'll assume you don't mind if I answer too. I think if you're slow and careful and have experience driving unimproved roads you'll make it, especially if you're in a car with a short wheelbase, so long as it's not too low. Can you scout it before the big weekend?
