Road to badger lake

Post by greenjello85 » June 4th, 2017, 4:00 pm

I know the lake is more or less melted out but does anyone know current conditions of the road to badger lake? FS says closed by snow but that was in April. Hoping to head up there in a couple weeks with some family.
Thanks!

I tried heading that way on this very day last year and didn't make it due to snow. I expect this year it is at least as impassible. But in a couple of weeks who knows?

Please post your findings here. I am hiking up Badger Creek next week and I plan to visit the lake. I am interested whether or not to expect people at Badger Lake who arrived by vehicle or if it will be foot traffic only.

Still some patches of snow. One i couldn't make it over in my Subaru do we turned around. Passable by some pickups/ Suvs with good ground clearance. It's melting fast though!

Thanks for the update. I just got back from my trip and when I was at Badger Lake on Wednesday (the last day before the weather turned foul) it was deserted of people. The lakeside was visibly snow-free, except for some old accumulation down in a deep shady gulch near the spillway. The south-facing slopes above the lake were snow free, too.
