Easy Hikes near Nisqually Entrance Mt. Rainier?

Post by dustinPDX » May 22nd, 2017, 8:10 am

Hi There,

I'm meeting up with some family in Ashford, WA next weekend (Memorial Day weekend) and planning to try to find a hike nearby, maybe in Rainier National Park if possible, but not required. I'm having trouble finding something under 5 miles with less than 500' elevation gain that I know will be snow-free. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I think that the Wonderland Trail going east from near Cougar Rock campground would be your best bet. You could also walk up the closed Westside Road a ways, that's right near the Nisqually entrance.

Maybe the beginning of Kautz Creek? I haven't done it myself, but I saw a trip report from about a month ago. Should be snow free for at least a few miles.
