The number of options to do this are so countless, I will not attempt to create a list. In October you will find hunter camps alongside forest roads throughout the west. Your idea has been well practiced for decades, you just will need to avoid doing it on holiday weekends and hunting season due to the competition.

The only real drawback to walking between sites is the amount of dust from vehicles passing you.
