Snow on Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain?

Post by tcfrost » November 16th, 2016, 11:26 am

I'm leading a trip in a few weeks to Tom, Dick & Harry mountain...but not if there is already snow (I don't have enough equipment to share). Has anyone been to the summit recently to report if it's clear for hiking?

Snowing and nine inches in Government Camp right now so it doesn't look good for a snowless trip up TD&H in a few weeks. You can watch the weather here...

and see forecasts here...

Besides the pass-level snow for the next few days, also remember its sno-park season and the TDM TH is a chain-up area, not a parking area (and you are likely to be towed).

I'm looking to snowshoe from Ski Bowl parking lot up to Tom, Dick and Harry tomorrow, 12/06. Looking at the cams, there's a pretty decent base, but is there enough snow particularly along the road to snowshoe behind the guardrail to Mirror Lake trailhead?

Plenty of snow right now. I went up today from Ski Bowl West. Fairly easy going to Mirror Lake, but I broke trail from Mirror up to Tom, Dick and Harry in about 8-12" of powder. Didn't get any glimpses of Hood, but a beautiful day none the less.

Really looking forward to the trail re-route. Every time I go up there now in the winter I feel sorry for those (too) numerous souls wandering along the highway on that dirty and dangerous trail beside/above the highway. :? It's kind of amazing so many people bother with that hike w/ such an ugly beginning/end.

Ha! It does keep them off the other better trails in the area.

What other snowshoeing trails do you recommend in the area?
