Enchantments

Post by Granola22 » October 6th, 2015, 8:28 am

I know it's in Washington, but I'm wondering, can you day hike enchantments area without those special lottery permits?
The permits are technically just for overnighters, right?
I'm interested in Colchuck lake for the day

That's correct. Permits are for staying overnight in a zone.

Not my league, but I always wondered what if someone hiked there through the night & 2 days? Spends night watching the stars on mountain top? Does it apply to camping or any overnight stay.

(pretty much the same as required camping permits in Margaret Backcountry, & I had this thought of finding a loophole in this rule...)

Pretty sure it applies to setting up a camp, which doesn't require a tent, but does require that you be sleeping. Plenty of people dayhike all the way across the Enchantments including some segment of darkness.

Lottery Permit window closes on Oct 15th FWIW. Go after, weather permitting.
