Thanks Bobcat! I’ll fix those. I was home by 6 so you could probably add 4-5 hours and leave by 5-6am.
But then you’d miss the sunrise, the best part of the day. But then again, you’d probably get the burned-off views from Mt Margaret. Oh the choices we hikers have to make!

VERY quickly... like, just a few days. If you go to McNeil Point early enough in the season, you can see all of the stages within about 100 feet, as the snow melts away.mjirving wrote: ↑July 8th, 2018, 2:12 pmI had a unique experience of seeing the Western Pasque Flower in all of its stages of bloom today on a single hike. This surprised me, as I’d think they’d all be in roughly the same stage. I don’t know how quickly they evolve through their stages…maybe pretty quickly?
Whittier is a great loop, but adding Mt. Margaret borders on Too Damn Long. Mt. Teragram is a fun little scramble and much less of a detour.

Very interesting on their quick conversion. Thanks!

Thanks for a fine TR and some exceptional photos. Now I know where to go on my next adventure as the weather heats up over the next few days.
What I think you named as Mt. Teragram some of us refer to as Mt. Tomroy after a fellow hiker who mistook it for Mt. Margaret a few year s back and summited it by mistake. Also, on a hike a couple of years ago, it appeared that it was actually higher than Mt. Margaret but without better equipment, couldn't be certain. (the old sighting-with-a-half-filled- water-bottle method isn't the best.)
thanks,

According to the maps Teragram/Tomroy is 4’ taller. (But much more challenging to summit)

Mike,
Do you have some documentation on Teragram/Tomroy's height? Also, having done it, I agree it's more challenging.

Mike, thanks -
But, Hmmmm… I wonder if that number is just an extrapolation from the contour lines: 5840 plus splitting the difference of a 40 foot contour = 5860. If it were actually surveyed and came out as 5860 wouldn't the USGS map show the number? If not, it could be anywhere between 5821 and 5879.
My water bottle method of surveying made it look even higher than 5860 - by at least ten to fifteen feet but, again, that's not a foolproof way to survey

that's a biggie hike and some gnarly stretches to traverse and nice shots along the way.
