So, I’m a pretty advanced skier and have done it for almost my whole life. My worst fall ever was at Cooper Spur (kiddie mountain) on a green run where I wasn’t going that fast, but hit a dip weird that flipped me over...thought I broke my neck. What you say is true! (Get well! A shot of cortisone in my shoulder well after a bad wakeboard fall, finally allowed my shoulder to heal). It was taking forever before that.

Dedicated mud shoes are a worthy injury-prevention investment IMHO. For a narrow forefoot try the Inov-8 MudClaw; for a wide forefoot try the Altra King MT.
