Tualatin Wildlife Refuge

Post by markesc » March 24th, 2018, 8:11 am

Another great place, best from May - October when the entire perimeter trail is open:

I can't believe how many wildlife you can catch, it would take me years

3-6 hours a day, several days a week. For me, it's a cheaper alternative than 3+ hours in the car / 75+ cars at a trailhead on Mt. Hood.

Some days you won't get anything, some days you luck out with a few. Completely different challenge than chasing landscapes!

Going alone with no expectations, and hitting it around dawn/dusk is when the most action happens.

Not to be overly philosophical: Every time though you gain some peace by simply being in nature without distraction.

Can't say I have! Saw one last year over by the photo blind, and I think there was one at the dead end trail on the hill, but it was FAST!!

I live a few miles away, but have only been to the refuge once. We watched a family of mink playing on a log across a creek, near some sort of concrete dam thing. Beginner's luck I guess.

amazing! I really enjoyed these. If I had to pick a favorite then it would have to be the first one of the Hawk. Looks mean.
