Hiked and snowshoed a few miles up the trail today to the large campsite. I think this is the earliest I've ever been up there. There was some snow on the road getting to the trailhead but it won't last long.

Re: Badger Creek
Badger Creek east of Mt Hood? If so, yay. Did you drive in from the Dufer side, or? That last little stretch of road that comes in from the south and heads downhill to the trail head seems like it could be challenging in the snow.

I always go in from the easy through Wamic. There was a little hard snow on the road on that downhill into the canyon, but it wasn't more than an inch or two thick, so probably gone a few days later. I was prepared to walk down that hill with traction if necessary.

Maybe I go in through Wamic and out by the Tygh Valley fairgrounds. Wamic's a little easier.
You can get there from highway 26 or 35 but I've never done that, more snow

Re: Badger Creek
I guess that when the snow has melted so you can get in from 26/35, then other places are open that I go to
I'll do a Badger Creek trip within the next month or so when there's snow blocking the 26/35 route

Re: Badger Creek
Badger Creek is usually an early season trip for me, and with Gorge closures it might be my first trip this year. I've come in from above off SR35 (near White River snopark) once. Now that I live in The Dalles I'll probably never go that way again.
Re: Badger Creek
I'm looking to do a trip a weekend trip up Little Badger Creek mid-April and was curious where the snow level was? What elevation did you get to? Was going to set up camp around 4000' and a day trip up to Flag Point Lookout. Hope that the east side melts out quicker.
Used to love the snow, but not so much anymore.
