Great mountain range! Both times I went to the same area because I'm a lazy bum and I figure the Big Sandy trailhead is by far the closest and easiest access to the core of the range. In 1999 there were maybe a dozen cars parked at the trailhead. In 2015, same time of year, there were 80 or 100. Humanity is no longer sparse there! And there were a lot of parties with paid climbing guides. But it's still fabulous. In hindsight, I think the driving time might not be all that much longer to the Lander side, and I kind of wish I had checked that out.

If you're worried about grizzlies, I think they are sparse there compared to Tetons, YS, or Glacier. But ask the rangers, don't take my word for it.
