Vista Ridge to Dollar Puddle

Post by drm » July 14th, 2017, 6:27 pm

The peak avalanche lilies have past but there still were some. A lot of snow banks, but not enough to get us off trail on the Timberline for the short distance we were on it. Mosquitoes and flies were out but more interested in my hiking partners than me. They were spraying liberally while the occasional swat was adequate for me.

PS - We talked to a couple who went over the high point via Gnarl Ridge, said there was 60-70% coverage.

Nice report. The Timberline trail right there at the Dollar Lake junction is one of the worst places for snow, and that doesn't look too bad. The snow has been melting off fast.

Thanks for all the pictures and information! The news of quickly receding snow is music to my ears!
