Elevator Shaft

Post by Jgrugan74 » April 23rd, 2017, 6:17 pm

Hiked up elevator shaft off trail 400. Had the trail to ourselves. Trail in good shape. Visited the lodge, enjoyed the overlook just past the lodge, then headed over to the Christmas trail. Most ornaments have been removed, but there are enough to enjoy the novelty. Hit the tourist crowd once we got to the Multnomah river and headed back to the parking lot. No snow, mud not bad, minimal bugs. Trillium blooming but not much else yet. Fun day, 7.2 mile loop.

so, the mighty Multnomah has been upgraded to a "river?"

The herds have been out this spring. When we passed Multnomah Falls on the freeway this past weekend, there didn't seem to be too much overflow from the parking lot. The previous weekend, however, the line of cars approaching the Lodge from the east extended over the aqueduct and were not moving. I do not know if the problem was pedestrians crossing the highway or someone at the head of the line waiting for a parking spot.
