Horse Rock Ridge, 28 Juneuary 2018

Thought I'd lead off with the year-to-date SWE (snow water equivaltent) graph from the NRCS against the median and last few years, but that would be too depressing.

So here's picture of Saint Ruby on the Rocks:

Love how our little manipulator managed to position a halo behind her head trying to convince us she's a saint. We know better.

Quite a few cars, some spilling onto the main paved BLM road. But not overly crowded on the trail. The trip is rated "easy" for short length & elevation gain. But it gets dodgy once you leave the trail (old road) and start negotiating steep and slippery bits of muddy basalt. Maybe it's not an issue later in the year.

Yes, pets can be angellic - particularly if a treat is on offer... Can't help thinking that "Ruby on the Rocks" would be a good name for a cocktail...

While she likes treats, she would prefer a toy and a child. Or a day on the trail. She's never met a stranger, only new friends.

Working on that cocktail recipe. Something like whiskey sour, seein's she's a border collie. Maybe with with a dash of ginger for mischief. And of course topped with a ruby red cherry...

Saint Ruby on the rocks:

2 oz. Highland single malt (Highland Park, Glenmorangie, The McCallan)
2 dash Peychaud's bitters
3/4 oz. Drambuie
2 oz. fresh orange juice
1 dash Grenadine

Shake with ice, strain into a tall highball with ice, garnish with orange slice and maraschino.

Sassy & classy, lightly sweet & sour with just a flare of bittersweet. She'll wag her tail and make you feel happy.
