Elk Mountain

Post by wexcellent » March 26th, 2017, 7:15 pm

Did Elk Mtn (Coast Range off of HWY 6) on Saturday as part of the Mazama's BCEP. About 9 miles, about 2800' elevation gain. Snow for the last mile or so and for a mile or two on the back side of the loop. There is snow (drifts up to 6' deep) for a mile+ on either side of the peak. The rest of the crew headed up to Kings Mtn, where there was 3+' of snow two weeks ago, and haven't hear how they fared.

Ha, I was just about to post a trip report after doing this hike yesterday with my girlfriend. Depending on conditions, we were thinking about heading up to King's Mountain, too, but there was a liiiittle too much snow for us to want to do that (and we were pretty sad about how much snow there was for the top couple miles of the Elk Creek trail on the way back down).
