Just shy of 9" of rain so far in October, out here near Oxbow Park, I was in desperate need of some Sun & some Neige Nouveau
Snow level on hood was about 5600' so the hike consisted of about 1.5 miles of hiking in 3 - 4" of snow followed by 3 snow free miles and then another 1.5 miles of snow hiking to Split Rock.
Here are a few pics:
The PCT sign hasn't been folded down for the winter yet.
The Little Zigzag
View from the Big Zigzag
Still some Bear food available.
The most famous sign post on Hood!
Paradise at Paradise Creek
Paradise at Paradise Creek
Almost there!
In my happy place
The plank Bridge over the Zigzag is still in (for now).
The clouds came in and out as we hiked back.
About 12 miles and 3000' of EG, a spectacular day on the mountain and just what the doctor ordered
A few more pics of the day here.

Is that a perennial thing, or new for 2016? I've never heard of a bridge there. The plank Bridge over the Zigzag is still in (for now).

Not a bridge! 2 stout bits of wood that someone threw across the creek early this season and they are still there. Too heavy I think to carry in that far, my guess is they found them as off cuts next to that wooden bridge on the trail just before you reach the creek. I think it was repaired a year or two ago when some rocks landed on it.Chip Down wrote:Is that a perennial thing, or new for 2016?
