I made a little 200 mile loop drive out to the coast on Highway 6 and back on 18 with stops at Whalen Island and Nestucca Spit today. The NOAA forecast had promised a lot of sun. They lied. But it was mild and the wind wasn't blowing at all. Driving out I don't think I saw another car on Highway 6 for half an hour or more. That didn't happen on 18 coming back...
Miles of empty beach this time of year. Though I would avoid Nestucca Spit (and obviously anything near Sand Lake)on weekends and probably during summer as it is a beach open to cars. And as annoying as that can be given that due to that law all beaches are public it seems a fair compromise for the handful of beaches still open to cars. But today, verrrry quiet..
