Mt Adams High Camp Glacial Lake

On Sunday, a friend an I dayhiked up Killen Creek trail, up to High Camp, and on to the glacial lake at 7505 feet. I had been there before and remembered that you hang left above High Camp and then turn right to get to the easiest access point to the lake. Unfortunately I turned right too early and we ended up on some steeper terrain. The snow was a bit too hard and slippery, so we were on loose rock. We found the right way down. All of the pics are from the vicinity of the lake. I didn't really take any on the way up or down.

Most of the time there was a chill breeze but occasionally it calmed down to get a reflection in the green waters

There are numerous flattened out spots to camp, mostly for climbers heading up the North Cleaver climbing route

Looking down the correct descent. You come up from the left and see this ridge of snow. The ridgeline in the snow center-right and just left of the people is more prominent than it looks here. If you're heading up and don't see this, continue up and left till you do. By this point the lake is actually off to your right going up.

It was bluebird while we were there but as soon as we left at about 1pm clouds moved in

Glad to see that huge kite-shaped snowfield is still up there. I've seen pics where it was questionable, but maybe just a bad angle.

If you don't get one of those campsites, at least there's always plenty of snow to be had.
