Yellowjackets at Panther Creek Falls

Post by Webfoot » August 20th, 2016, 10:08 pm

I just want to warn people that there are yellow-jackets or other small wasps at the top of the Panther Creek Falls trail. I was stung there last month and multiple people were stung there today, though I manged to avoid a repeat. I never did see a nest entrance but these little devils are still there and angry for whatever reason. They leave stingers in if that further identifies them to anyone.

Fortunately there's another way down, at least to the bottom of the falls (which is a better view than the official trail anyway): walk back down the road about 200 yards from the parking area, where the ground is kind of humped at a bend in the road. There's a pretty obvious path right there.
