Wild Iris Ridge 4/30/2016

Post by kaltbluter » May 2nd, 2016, 8:02 am

Wild Iris Ridge is a 228 acre unimproved city park in Southwest Eugene. The city acquired the land in 2003 and 2007 with the plan of eventually connecting it to the Ridgeline Trail.

There are a few lightly-overgrown roads that make nice hiking trails. In many areas, off trail exploration is hampered by dense poison oak thickets.

I took the kids here for a quick three mile walk on Saturday morning. We started where Bailey View Drive intersects the Northeast edge of the park and mostly stayed on the old road as we checked out the flowers.

Aerial view of the park boundries:

Are all those flower photos yours? If so I echo gratefultrails' comment: nice photography.

Yep, those are most of the types of flowers we saw that day.

It's a ten minute drive from my house and I wasn't aware of it until recently. I noticed it when I was checking out a map of city owned property around Eugene.

Today I found the Eugene Property Explorer online. Now I need to go check out Murray Hill, Coyote Prairie, South Eugene Meadows and Suzanne Arlie Park.
