A couple weeks ago I spent Saturday morning at Trestle Creek Falls and Parker Falls. When I was there last year there was a fresh slide along Brice Creek Trail and a couple months ago I saw reports on Facebook of another slide near Upper Trestle Creek Falls.
There are two signs regarding trail conditions posted at Champion Creek Trailhead. One says that the whole Trestle Creek Loop trail is closed for public safety and the other says "obstructions may be encountered".
Since my curiosity about trail conditions was my main reason for choosing this destination I ignored the closure notice and continued on my way. Besides, both FS pages list the status as 'open'.
As it turns out, there is a small slide immediately after Upper Trestle Creek Falls (when traveling counter-clockwise). It's obvious that a lot of people have crossed here and beaten a new path into the loose dirt.
Here are two pictures showing it from both directions.
The slide that I encountered last year on Brice Creek Trail has been semi-repaired. The downed trees have been cut and the trail is pretty well compacted.
Here it is now:
Compared to last year:
Of course I stopped to take a couple pictures along the way too.

Yes, great photos of an area I'll probably never make it around to visiting. I especially like this photo, stopped me in my (scroll) tracks.
Gorgeous colors!

Thanks guys.
It was nice and cozy and pretty affordable for a weekend getaway.
It's a nice area to explore over 2 or 3 days. Last year my wife and I stayed in a little cabin near Wildwood Falls.miah66 wrote:..I'll probably never make it around to visiting.

We just visited Parker Falls for the first time yesterday (4/23). Then we did a loop using the Crawfish, Knott, Marten Flume, and Adams Mountain Way Trails. Didn't see anyone else on any of the trails (we started just before 7am at Parker Falls). We did Brice Creek & Trestle Falls a couple of years ago, great area with lots of trails.

Uh oh, prepare for a spanking from Lurch.kaltbluter wrote:Since my curiosity about trail conditions was my main reason for choosing this destination I ignored the closure notice and continued on my way.
If I had nothing better to do, I think I'd have some fun seeking out closed trails, just to investigate the real conditions.
