We did a variation of the Franklin Ridge Loop from what I have seen posted on hiking sites.
Starting at the Multnomah Falls Lodge, we hiked the Larch Mt. #441 to the Franklin Ridge #427 and followed that trail south to the Multnomah Spur #448, following that west back to the Larch Mt. Trail and back to the Multnomah Falls Lodge. This hike showed being 13.77 miles on GPS Fly with 3,400 ft elevation gain. Snow started about 2,000 ft. and only got to be about 6 inches by the time we reached 2,900 ft. All the creeks and streams are flowing strong. Everything is passable at this time.
We made seven snowballs and carried them in our rain hood to pass out to needy children on the snow-less 11 switchbacks.
Parking lot wasn't too full when we left in the morning and returned in the afternoon.
Multnomah Falls Pano
Multnomah Creek was running too full to get out in the middle for a better framed shot.
This sections always makes me nervous especially when it is wet.

Only dicey crossing on Larch Mt Trail
Started to see snow at 1,800 ft but not any solid snow pack until over 2,000 ft.

Things are looking up
Snow covered mushroom
Sow covered moss

At first the snow wasn't too bad for Swag.
But it got pretty deep for someone who is only a couple of inches tall.

Great photos, and great report. Cool idea about the snowballs. Poor swag, he's a bit short and hasn't got his MSR snowshoes in the mail yet.

Love that viewpoint where it's real rocky. Took an almost identical picture yesterday, but visibility was real bad.
