I camped at the Cougar Rock Campground last Friday and Saturday night to do some hikes that do not have backpacking camps on them. The forescast was for sunny conditions both days, but I didn't see Mt Rainier until sunset on Saturday. However I guess it was sunny where I was a lot of Saturday, so a sunny forecast does not necessarily mean you can see the mountain - unless it is sunny on the summit I guess.
Anyway, I made a full trip report and here are a few highlights:
Comet Falls hike
Eagle Saddle (Peak) hike
Reflection Lake
Pinnacle Saddle hike
Snow (and Bench) Lake hike
Bench Lake
Snow Lake
Mt Rainier NP south side dayhikes
Re: Mt Rainier NP south side dayhikes
Nice to see your pictures! We did something similar earlier in Sept.
Pinnacle Saddle was a fun little hike. We found the same - everyone trading taking pictures of each other.
Our day hike to Indian Bar the next day did not turn out very sunny. It was kind of a day in the clouds. We've found that the cloud guessing game is all part of the Mt Rainier experience! The weather is always changing.

Great pictures, drm. One could spend a lifetime hiking, climbing and exploring up there!
