Hello Oregon Hikers! I haven't contributed a trip report in lo these many years, but thought I'd contribute something about the Siouxon Creek Trail since there's a minor trail change.

I know most of us are probably itching for views and wildflowers, but when the cloudy and rainy spring days hit -as one did yesterday- there are so many forest hikes to enjoy. Siouxon Creek is one of those tremendously beautiful forest hikes that seems to increase in beauty with a little cloud cover and the slick glossiness of rain.
The only condition change to report from this trail is that the bridge at Chinook Falls is evidently closed. Many hikers were making their way safely across. So, cross at your own risk.

Thanks for the report, that bridge has been down for a year now I hope they fix it soon!

Haha! Shows how often I'm out there. Yes, it would be nice to have a fixed bridge. Someone was out there recently as the warning signs and flagging over the bridge seemed new-ish.

Sourgrass is also known as Wood Sorrel, and i just learned it's totally edible. Tastes like an unripe Granny Smith apple.
So if you ever find yourself starving to death in the middle of the woods, at least there's one thing you can eat.

Waiting for engineering approval, hope to install a new bridge early summer.

How was the road to the trailhead? I tried to do the hike summer 2014 but the turn onto FR 57 was WAY too rocky and steep for my car to handle. I'm wondering if it was the right road or maybe if conditions have changed since then? It's been on my to do list for so long!

Too much sourgrass will give most people gastrointestinal issues. Sort of counter-productive if you are starving in the forest...
