I wondered why it was so hazy. It completely looked like a smoke haze, but I was unaware of any nearby fires,

Thanks for this trip report. Useful info -- especially about the creek crossing -- for my first solo backpacking trip. I stayed at (or approaching) Big Cedar Springs.

I meet two other women along the trip, Carol & [name i forgot] and talked to them a bit. They had a print out of this report with them!
