Camas lily Fields

Post by beag » April 13th, 2015, 2:20 pm

Camas in bloom plus Glacier lilies. Should peak this weekend and will probably last for another week after that.

Enjoy the fields. The land is sold off and going to be houses backing up to the lilly fields in the next year of so.

The Lily fields should be ok but with more houses being built up against the park it will add to the problems. This gem of a Park is being loved to death right now.

That is indeed sad. Last week when we were there, I couldn't believe how much was cut down and built up in just one year. There was a blank subdivision where there used to be just trees! How could they do this?

Thanks for the update beag. I remember you making a TR about the camas last year :)

Too bad about the development.

I'm heading up to check it out tonight. I haven't been there before, so I guess I have nothing to compare to how it used to be. I'm mostly hoping I don't get lost in the maze of trails there :)

Trails are very well marked, but they do get a lot of use from hikers and bikers. Its possible to hike or bike over 25 miles if you use Lacamas Lake, Round Lake,Lacamas Lake, Washougal Greenways trail and the Washougal dike trail.

There are some well-marked trails to the main attractions but there are a ton of unmarked ones as well. Not sure if these were illegally built or what but there is a much more vast trail network there then there used to be.

The big clue was the sign that says something like 'low impact area, foot traffic only'. We saw other folks heading that way and followed. It's very pretty right now, and it looks like there's more coming.

There are a lot of 'unofficial' trails in there and it's very confusing. A friend told me to just keep going up :)
