This is my first TR here. I read easyrider's TR about Crown Zellerbach trail and decided, since it runs through my neighborhood, I should probably check it out.
His photos are the first I have seen of the trail beyond the few miles I have walked my dog to the market. I live by the yellow gate at the 1.5mi mark, so I got up this morning and walked out the front door and on to the trail, a welcome change from driving an hour or more to a trailhead.
It was overcast all day and the rain was nice enough to hold out until I had about two miles to go. The trail is a little trashy in places but the farther you go the better it gets. I did the entire trail described by easyrider, out and back minus the 1.5mi stretch making for a 25 mile day. Not sure what the EG is on this one. Easyrider's pictures are higher quality so you can check out his snaps if you want. Ill post a picture of the new bridge that looks like it cant be more than a few months old at what was the sketchy log crossing.
Starting out
The new bridge
Some hardware along the trail
Underpass
Summit view
Halfway at mi 12.5
Looking beat back at the start

Re: Crown-Zellerbach Trail
Is this trail an old logging railroad grade?

Thanks for the TR and welcome to the site!
For other readers, here's the link to Easyrider's photographic journal of the trail: it's a real bit of Columbia County ruralia.
