Isn't Cascade Locks above 100 feet elevation?
100 feet is somewhere under the river surface?

Normal river level is about 75 feet at Cascade Locks. Most of the town is well over 100 feet elevation, though.retired jerry wrote:Isn't Cascade Locks above 100 feet elevation?

Don, your super looper 30 + miler and 10k' hike might be on snow standby for awhile?
I have never been up Rudolph Spur yet either, but that might be cool in the snow as
a small loop using Ruckel Creek trail for the return leg...

Yeah, looks like the big loop is out but a shorter one could work. Even a foot of dry fluffy snow is easy to hike through but it looks like more than that is coming. The gorge seriously needs some snow - I hiked over Cedar Mt. and around the back side of Table and over the top yesterday. Just a few pitiful patches here and there - nowhere more than a couple of inches. (There was one set of tracks on the north side connector so at least one other hiker did Table in the past couple of days.)Eric Peterson wrote: Don, your super looper 30 + miler and 10k' hike might be on snow standby for awhile?

Guess I'll put the snow tires on today - I think this will be the latest I've ever done that!

isnt the snow/freezing levels calculated from sea level... zero feet elevation?

Thum, sounds like you got a good hike in with new snow! I love that, when the snow is new and
not super deep yet hikeable without snow shoes! Nice...
