PCT closed south of White Pass because of wildfires

Post by romann » August 10th, 2018, 11:20 pm

FYI - if you're going to hike PCT north of Goat Rocks, there's large fire at White Pass and a smaller one a few miles SW (with Shoe Lake roughly in between the 2 fires). 12-mile stretch of PCT between Tieton Pass to White Pass is closed. Tieton access to Goat Rocks is very close to the larger fire, and possibly closed as well.

P.S. a bit off topic, but this is how close Snowgrass Trail area got to burning down. Note the charred line on the tree and trail sign (junction with equestrian ford trail just west of Goat Creek). Luckily, the tree didn't catch fire. Would be a shame, because forest is magic there
