[quote="SeanB" Mount St Helens, maybe?[/quote]
Climbing St. Helens requires obtaining a permit, they are in high demand. I don't think they hold any for walkups. There is an online lottery system.

Take care if you're doing this research online that you double check current info from local sources, not just for trail conditions but especially the roads to get you there. Some may not be practical in a passenger car (or, in the case of what sometimes shows on google maps, not exist at all).
The reason the Ramona Falls bridge is no longer there is that it washed out in a flash flood a few years back, taking a person with it. Now you have to cross on whatever log is available, which changes from year to year. Personally this would not be my first choice on a totally unfamiliar trail with a tiny human strapped to me.

It's an amazing area, even if you don't make it all the way to the end. IMHO Mt St Helens looks best in the morning or evening when the angled light brings out lots of detail in the terrain that are hidden in flat noon light.SeanB wrote:Harry's Ridge looks very promising!!!

Lookout Mt. to see Mt. Hood and Harry's Ridge for Mt. St. Helens seem like two ideal trips and I can bring family on both of them.
Looking at the photos, I'm getting excited already!!!

Coldwater Peak may be more of a grunt but could be another option for a buddy hike at Mt. St. Helens.
