Well, between one long rafting trip, visits to friends & family, circumnavigating the U.S. by train, and a terrible, smoky, trail-destroying wildfire season, we managed to squeeze in 111 unique hikes, with 758 trail miles and 144,820 feet of elevation gain - in Oregon and several other states. It was a busy year but a good one. If not for the fires, and the loss of some of our favorite trails, it would have been a great year.

It was another slow year for me but most of my home projects are done now so I hope to get back on the trail more in 2018.

Stats: 143 hikes but only 117 days hiking and 105 trail/forest hikes. Road/street hikes I'm not counting in the 105. Lots of days I did multiple short hikes.

52 summits/high points-new-to me in five states: OR, WA, NV, CA and AZ

667 miles, 171,900 EG

Highlights:

Iciest hike: 15 way tie on Eagle Creek, Greenleaf Peak, Crown Point and Prindle Mountain. A few pics:

Longest, most elevation gain, and highest elevation: Marion County HP at 9,000’ on the north ridge of Mt. Jefferson, 14.4 miles, and 5,024’ EG, July 14th:

Hottest: 4 way tie, Death Valley, three hikes on April 11, 92 degrees, and Holdaway Butte, Dark Divide, Aug. 2nd, 99 at the TH (but probably only 85 to 90 in the forest.)
Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes, Death Valley - some of the first scenes in the first Star Wars movie were filmed here:

Bad Water, also lowest elevation hike: minus 279 feet

Most exciting: 3 way tie, Eagle Creek with Peder, Feb. 17th; Shark Rock with Kelly Wagner, Aug. 18th. And Kirk Rock with Kelly Wagner, Oct. 4th.

Sean isn't recording mileage because he broke mileage meter, maxed it out

I did 560 miles, 44K EG, 38 nights of backpacking and 38 nights of car camping

I did a June trip to the Trinity Alps, a lot of snow which was a challenge, scared a bear,...
