I have read that glacial silt will play havoc with some people's digestion, giving them a case of the runs, which would not be pleasant in the backcountry - especially if you are an ultralighter who counts their TP squares (what is the recommendation?).
But unlike biological pests that multiply I would think that at some point you would flush it out of your system when you stop drinking it if you do have problems. I suppose if there is enough of it, it might affect the flavor of your coffee.

Re: Timberline Trail Discussion
About campsites: I would seriously consider carrying water and dry camping. The whole trail can turn into a zoo when the weather's good, but people crowd around water sources, and it's totally possible to find (relative!) solitude if you're willing to sleep a little ways away.

51 inches of snow on the Timberline Trail at Timberline Lodge as of July 6th. This amount is confirmed by Zig Zag RS as being accurate. This amount is also 51 inches above normal for this time of year.
