it's supposed to stay below freezing for several days here in Portland. Down to 15 F.

Opportunity for arctic conditions right outside my door

Like the Fanno Creek Trail

Okay, I got up this morning and the thermometer was above 28 F.

Were these reports of temps below 20 F just hype to get people to watch TV so they could get more ad dollars????

I am rooting for it to get colder

Finally!

Thursday morning 16 F

This morning 14 F

On my patio

Last night I slept out on the patio. A couple new pieces of clothing to calibrate. Clear sky which makes it worse.

At 3 AM it was 16 F and I had to go use the bathroom. A bit cold so I just stayed inside. Calibration complete. I should be good down to 20 F which is my lower target - I try not to go below that because it just gets too difficult, like to keep water from freezing. I'm working on a new quilt which is a little warmer, so I should be good with that.

I used some MSR Isopro fuel with my regular upright canister which worked fine.

Balmy weather Jerry. It was 2 below at my house this morning. Had a high of 17 today. If you had to wish for colder weather, why the heck did you send it to me.

5 inches of wet snow in Creston-Kenilworth! Woo Hoo!

(Though I'm bummed, because my dream (one of my most fervent dreams) is to someday ski the Wildwood Trail. I think this might be enough snow. The plan would be to take the train/elevator up to the Zoo as early as possible (before its been tracked out by hikers) and ski to Newberry Road, then take the bus back into town. A long day, for sure.)
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

8 inches in Garden Home, looks like it'll be Sunday before it thinks about melting off, where's my shovel...

Glad I grabbed some groceries yesterday
